As of V4R4 you can use the literals *SYS, *JOB, and *USER to initialize fields in RPG IV D-specs.

Use the *SYS literal to initialize a date, time or timestamp field to the current system date and/or time:

D @CurrDate       s               d   inz(*sys)

Use *JOB to initialize a date field to the job date (same as UDATE).

You can also use the *USER literal to initialize a character field to the current user profile.

D @User           s             10a
